MAFALDA SOTO

Director
Mafalda has a pharmaceutical background specialized in International Health. In 2008 she threw her backpack on and became a volunteer. What would initially be a nine stage months became nine years of work pioneering socio-sanitary projects to support vulnerable groups in sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2010, she has been obsessed with improving the lives of people with albinism in Africa.

In 2016 she returned to Europe and co-founded Beyond Suncare. Mafalda is a "United Nations Champion on Albinism" and the model she developed for the protection of People with Albinism was chosen as Best Practice by the United Nations in 2016.

LOREA BAGAZGOITIA

Medical Director
Lorea is a dermatologist. Since 2008 she has participated in workshops training African doctors on how to treat skin cancer in people with albinism. With one or two annual surgical-training trips to Tanzania in the last ten years, she lived closely and witnessed the birth of the first sunscreen made specifically for people with albinism produced in Africa.

Since 2017 she has moved from cancer treatment to its prevention, embarking enthusiastically on the Beyond Suncare project.

BLANCA FERNÁNDEZ

Institutional relations and fundraising manager
Trained as an architect, from the beginning Blanca has always been interested in promoting projects that improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups. With a multidisciplinary profile specialising in the management and fundraising of high social impact projects, in 2020 she took a master's degree in international cooperation that led her to collaborate with different causes in the fields of human rights and social transformation.

In 2023 he discovered Beyond Suncare's mission and decided to move to Malawi to supervise the organisation's programme on the ground. Back in Spain, committed to the focus, value and necessity of Beyond's work in Africa, she currently acts as the organisation's Institutional Partnerships and Fundraising Manager.

ALICE BANDA MBOZI

Director of Beyond Suncare Malawi
A public health professional with experience in leadership in HIV care, laboratory systems strengthening, and digital health transformation. She began her career as a diagnostic assistant before moving into leadership roles in programme management and operations, coordinating regional and national sample transport systems.

Prior to joining Beyond Suncare at the beginning of 2025, she led key efforts in health logistics and stakeholder engagement to support HIV diagnosis and service delivery across Malawi.

Alice holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and continues to advance her public health studies at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences.

EZELINA QINISA MOJO

Project Manager
Ezelina is committed to creating meaningful change for marginalised populations. Holding a degree in Humanities and with experience in Education, Health, and Food Programme initiatives, she brings valuable expertise to Beyond Suncare. Her goal is to improve the quality of life of vulnerable communities by promoting equity and access to essential resources.

As an advocate for social justice, Ezelina works to empower communities and foster a supportive environment, aligning with Beyond Suncare’s vision for impact in Malawi. Her passion and ability to build partnerships are key to driving lasting change in the region.
