The date commemorates the day on which, for the first time, the UN adopted its first and historic resolution on albinism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A third resolution proclaimed June 13th as International Albinism Awareness Day, and was celebrated in 2015 for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2701 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/beyondsuncare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/dia-mundial-albinismo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"830\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beyondsuncare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/dia-mundial-albinismo-1.jpg 830w, https:\/\/beyondsuncare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/dia-mundial-albinismo-1-300x217.jpg 300w, https:\/\/beyondsuncare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/dia-mundial-albinismo-1-768x555.jpg 768w, https:\/\/beyondsuncare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/dia-mundial-albinismo-1-600x434.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">A persecuted and discriminated collective<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Given the hypopigmentation of their skin, people with albinism have a special risk of skin cancer, reducing their life expectancy, especially in poor communities in tropical areas where solar radiation is very intense and scarcity of resources very palpable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, in addition to the purely medical consequences of white skin, people with albinism face a variety of challenges in different corners of the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most noteworthy is the attacks and murders that many of them have suffered so far in various African countries. The UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution in 2013 calling for the prevention and condemnation of these attacks, as well as the halting of discrimination.
